Nettie Harder's Art
Nettie Harder’s earliest memories are times spent marveling at the paradise of nature. As a child, she spent countless hours with whatever pencil stub and scraps of paper she could find, learning to capture the beauty of the spring crocus, the shimmer of a pond in the summer sun, and the waving wheat fields at harvest time. From her farm home near Waldheim, Saskatchewan, Nettie set the course of her life before she was old enough to know that a whole world awaited her.
For Nettie the process of capturing the image on canvas was the ultimate reward. “There is so much beauty surrounding me. It is begging to be painted. The world of art is inexhaustible. The long hours I spend just fly by as I plan to create new images. I will never feel that I can be satisfied. I will always feel that I have only just begun. God the creator blessed us with such color in the sky, fields and water. I can only try to capture some of it as I pass by. Art is a gift from God. What I do is my commentary on the beauty that I find overwhelming.”
